Elvis' Favorite Restaurants

Many restaurants have claimed to be Elvis favorites, but it's hard to know which ones were really hang-outs of The King. Besides, restaurants come and go all the time.

Memphis Elvis-Style, by Cindy Hazen and Mike Freeman, can point you in the right direction. We recommend it because it gives you an intimate look at places that, although lesser-known, nevertheless played a vital role in Elvis's life.

Although Elvis was not known to be a fan of barbecue, another restaurant that some have cited as a favorite is Corky's BBQ.

The now-defunct Colorado Gold Mine Company restaurant in Glendale (near Denver) was an Elvis favorite because of its Fool's Gold Loaf, a $49.95 house special. Legend has it that The King was so fond of this dish that he once made a midnight flight to the restaurant with some friends to sample this delicacy. You can get the recipe for the Loaf here.
