Welcome to the Chattahoochee Valley Chapter of PFLAG!

Our Mission Statement

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbian and Gays promotes the health and well being of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons, their families, and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten and ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity. PFLAG represents more than 70,000 families--and speaks to thousands of others.

The local Chattahoochee Valley Chapter of PFLAG has a meeting each month on the second Monday. Anyone is welcome to attend a meeting and is encouraged to do so. We have the meetings so that you are able to get your feelings out in the open and maybe to get a better understanding of what sexual orientation is all about. We also understand that this type of discussion can make some people feel very uncomfortable, so if you wish to just sit back and listen that is perfectly fine with us, but we do encourage you to ask questions.

PFLAG is an organization for PARENTS, FRIENDS and FAMILIES of LESBIANS and GAYS. In other words PFLAG is a sort of support group for the parents and friends of lesbians and gays of course there are also lesbians and gays in the organization and are encouraged to attend as well, but we really need to get our families and friends to attend meetings also. On occasions we do have guest speakers to come in and discuss certain topics and as we know of these speakers we will post them here on the web site, so that you can prepare questions to ask. Please come and join us at our next meeting. Please be assured that by attending a meeting that your name will never be mentioned on this web site or publicized in any way.

Local PFLAG parent extends his support.

If you would like to talk to a local PFLAG parent of a gay child anonymously please feel free to call 322-2011.  If you are about to tell your parents that you are gay please give them this number when you tell them, so that they will have someone positive to talk to that has been through the same situation.

The next meeting will be held Monday September 11, 2000.   The location of the meeting will be at the Unitarian/MCC Church at 1442 Double Churches RD.  Across the street from a package store just east of Whitesvile Rd.  The meeting will start at 7:30pm and last till around 9:30pm.  If you have questions please contact us at PFLAGpress@aol.com , (334) 291-5153 or at P.O. Box 2201 Columbus, Georgia 31902.

If you have any books that you would like to donate to CV-PFLAG they would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to start a library of information on gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people. Once we acquire some literature we are going to allow people to check them out. It is understandable that some people feel uncomfortable going to the library to get such information, so we feel that by this way you can get the information that you want and do not have to feel embarrassed or uncomfortable getting it. Please bring whatever you have to the next meetings. Thank You.
